Student Research Assistant - Software Engineering (python)

Our research group at the chair Decision Sciences and Systems (Informatics 18) is looking for a motivated student assistant ('Hiwi', ~10h/week, duration flexible), for software engineering tasks in an ongoing research project. As part of the project, we are developing a python package for equilibrium computation in auction markets that leverages deep multi-agent reinforcement learning. Your job will be supporting package development, especially in terms of developing and implementing a framework for automatic configuration and logging of experiments, as well as consolidation and visualization of resulting experiment data. If you are interested in the problem domain (machine learning and/or game theory), this position will be excellent preparation for a Master's Thesis related to the project at a later date. Some of the technologies you will be working with are python, pytorch, tensorboard, matplotlib, GitLab.



  • Applicants must be enrolled as a student at a German university.
  • good knowledge of the python language and object-oriented programming
  • basic knowledge of machine learning and data visualization
  • basic working knowledge of git and Linux.

Previous experience with deep learning frameworks like pytorch or tensorflow (especially tensorboard), matplotlib and/or data serialization (e.g. Google ProtoBuf) is a plus.
