Ioannis Petrakis studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) where he graduated with a diploma - Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.). Afterwards he moved to Germany and after a year of intensive language learning, he followed the Elite Graduate Program "Finance and Information Management" at the TU München (TUM) and the University of Augsburg and received his Master of Science with honors. In his master thesis he designed and implemented algorithms for a real-life field workforce scheduling problem. Ioannis has worked one year for Siemens A.E. in Athens and has completed an intership at o2 Germany.

Since February 2010, Ioannis has been working as a full-time research assistant at the Chair of Decision Sciences and Systems (DSS) of the TU München.
